This a consecutive 3 day course (depending upon class numbers may need 4 days) for new Pilots and a refresher course is required to be completed every 3yrs prior to your MRWA Pilot Licence expiry date.

Pilot Medical (expires every 3 years -unlike Comm Drivers Medical which can be valid for 5yrs)

This course consists of approximately 2 days of theory with written assessments and 1 day approx of practical training as front and rear pilot, conducting bridge crossings, vehicle checks and breakdowns. (This course does not cover Agricultural Pilot Requirements and Rules - Please contact us to inquire about the optional Agricultural half day course-CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE)

Courses can be run in Busselton, Bunbury or in WA Regional Towns.  If you have the student numbers in your town, call us to see if we can come to you.

You must have good reading and writing skills to complete the written assessments and good English communication skills as you will be required to talk clearly on a 2 way whereby others on the road including the public can understand you.

Course Cost: $1895.00  GST free course

Course Duration: 3 days, 8.00am - 5.00pm each day.

A Statement of Attainment will be issued for the following 5 Units of Competency (UOC) upon successfully completion of this course.

  • TLIB0002 - Carry out vehicle inspection
  • TLIC3010 - Pilot or escort oversized and/or overmassed loads
  • TLIE3009 - Use pilot and escort communication
  • TLIF3013 - Coordinate breakdowns and emergencies
  • TLIF3060 - Control traffic as a pilot vehicle operator

A Bridge Supervision Certificate of Attendance will also be issued at the end of the course to submit to MRWA.  This training is mandated by MRWA for all pilots working in WA.

Prerequisites to attend this Course:

  • You must hold a current non-probationary valid Driver’s Licence (Full Current Licence)
  • You must be physically fit with good mobility - various physical activities will be included during the course.
  • You must have good English, written, reading and numeracy skills

Attending the Course:

  • Please reverse park at course site.
  • Please wear appropriate clothing and enclosed shoes/boots.
  • Reading and Driving glasses if required.
  • An internet enabled  Smartphone
  • Kitchen & fridge facilities avail.  Lunch is not provided

Application to MRWA must include(Student to complete submission and pay all fees):

  • Relevant Fee (Please see the MRWA website for current Fee price).
  • Complete the online MRWA Pilot Application Form.
  • Pilot Medical with minimum 12 months remaining. 
  • The Statement of Attainment for the 5 UOCs & Statement of Attendance for the Bridge Supervision, that you will get at the end of this course.  (Do not submit the Statement of Attendance for Agricultural Requirements when submitting to MRWA if you have completed that half day)
