A Heavy Vehicle Pilot Audit Regime was introduced in April 2020 to help identify damage to roadside items caused by oversize loads and to ensure pilots have adhered to a professional standard of behaviour.

The accredited units that we cover in this training course are:
• TLIB0002 - Carry out Vehicle Inspection • TLIC3010 - Pilot & Escort oversized or overmass loads • TLIE3009 - Use Pilot & Escort communication • TLIF3013 - Coordinate breakdown and emergencies • TLIF3060 - Control traffic as Pilot Operator.

- Bridge Supervision (WA mandated – non accredited)
ELIGIBILITY: YOU MUST:
· - Have good reading and writing skills to complete the written assessments and good English communication skills as you will be required to talk clearly on a 2 way whereby others on the road including the public can understand you.
- Hold a current Full Drivers Licence(no probation)
- Hold a current or have the ability to pass a MRWA Commercial Drivers Fitness to Drive medical.
- UNIQUE STUDENT IDENTIFIER NUMBER (USI) must be provided on booking for all RTO course training. Find my USI
ASSESSMENT: - Written assessment including work related forms. (100%)
- Observation assessment of practical performance. (100%)
- Practical Pilot Escort drive, front and rear.
RE ASSESSMENT: Option to arrange extra time, if available, at end of course at additional cost or to attend final day of next available course at additional cost. APPLICATION FOR YOUR HVP LICENCE: by student upon successful completion: HVPilot Application form - Attend MRWA Heavy Vehicles office in person to submit or email all application documents to: pilots@mainroads.wa.gov.au
- Documents to be provided:
- Statement of Attainment & Certificate of Attendance
- Drivers licence
- Current medical HVPilot Medical form
- MRWA application form
- Pay the prescribed fee
- Once approved you will receive a Pilots card. You must carry this card with your Current Driver’s Licence with you when operating as a pilot. If you lose your card you can apply via MRWA for a replacement card via their online form.

HEAVY VEHICLE Pilot REFRESHER Course
The Heavy Vehicle Pilot Licence is valid for three years. To renew your licence you are required to successfully complete a refresher course:
